| Description | The purpose of Bust-a-Move Beavers is to allow students to express their creative abilities through the art of dancing using different styles and techniques such as contemporary, lyrical, ballet, and whatever other forms of dance are brought in by the members. | Description | Clenotes is currently the one and only a a capella group at the University of Maine at Farmington. We are a student-run co-ed group of singers/beatboxer(s). We primarily sing contemporary pop songs, however, we also sing a few songs of other genres. Clefnotes is always open to new performance opportunites and has performed in the past at events such as various charity functions, UMF's Symposium Arts Night, UMF convocation, and guest appearanced for other singing groups. |

| Description | The purpose of the Competitive Alpine club is to provide opportunities for students to participate in Alpine ski racing, Nordic ski racing, and Snowboard racing in a competitive format. The format will include races governed by USSA and races within USCSA. Competitive Ski Club will also be responsible for training opportunities on a regular basis for participants of the club and will help to financially aid club members with race entry fees, league memberships fees, transportation costs, and training equipment including but not limited to gates, drills, wrenches, and other costly race related items. |

| Description | Girls Talk and Teen Voices are school based mentoring programs. UMF students are selected as mentors for girls in grades 5 through 8 in two local school districts. These programs have a reading /discussion format focus, monthly meetings at various school with dynamic speakers and activities coupled with community service projects and attending cultural events. |

| Description | IVCF is a non-denominational group that believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We have weekly meetings that consist of worship, a bible study and fellowship. There are weekly small group Bible Studies, a retreat each semester and fun monthly events. |

| Description | Lawn Chair Pirates is the first and only improvisational comedy troupe at UMF. Each year they perform a number of shows on campus in the Latte Landing and Lincoln Auditorium. Their shows can include anything from short films and skits to the more traditional improvised game. Membership in LCP is determined at the start of each semester with auditions. Membership is capped at ten performers and two troupe managers. | Description | L.A.C's role on this campus is to create a positive and accepting environment on campus for those with an interest in any form of sword fighting, regardless of previous experience or knowledge. It works to maintain the balance between fun ans safety to the best of its ability. L.A.C does not rely solely on one coach or fighting style, promoting teamwork and critical thinking. In addition to promoting physical fitness, mental fitness is encouraged through challenging members to learn new tricks. The club will regulate and aid the Live Action Combat members through providing, maintaining, and regulation equipment and arranging meetings. Non-aggressive competitions between groups of members is expected and common. |

| Description | Phi Alpha Theta is a National Honor Society devoted to promoting the study of History. Phi Alpha Theta's goal is to recognize students for outstanding academic achievement and to promote the study of history through research, teaching, and publication. Since its inception in 1921, Phi Alpha Theta has since grown to included over 800 chapters nationwide, more than any other accredited four-year college honor society. Alpha Iota Omicron is the University of Maine at Farmington's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta. The chapter was formally organized on May 8, 2002. |

| Description | The purpose of this club is to write, edit, perform, and critique performance poetry and spoken word and to practice the skills needed to perform and compete against other teams in groups or individually. We will strive to promote spoken word, advocate free speech, encourage self-expression through spoken work and performance poetry, and seek to enlighten others on the incorporation of spoken word in unconventional manners. | Description | The UMF Political Science Club's mission is to promote political discussion and action on the UMF campus. Forums on political issues, discussions with candidates, and trips to places like Washington, D.C. are some of the things that the club has done in the past, and they are always looking for new ideas. In spring 2006 the club teamed up with the College Republicans and brought the Maine gubernatorial candidates to campus to speak. The club is nonpartisan and open to all people, regardless of major, with an interest in government or politics. |

| Description | WUMF's purpose is to introduce a variety of music to the listening community which is not currently available through commercial radio sources. To maintain a working relationship with record companies and distributors. This station is obligated to comply with promotional record leasing rules and provides uo-to-date local and national information to UMF students. WUMF will introduce new bands and unique forms of musical expression through broadcasting, concerts, dances and other public displays. |

| Description | The purpose of the Writer's Guild is to provide activities of interest to student writers at UMF. It will sponsor the appearances of visiting writers on campus. The Visiting Writers Series will consist of distinguished, published authors, at least one in each of the three genres (poetry, fiction, non-fiction) per semester. These writers will be paid a stipend from the Student Activity Fee fund as necessary. It will serve as link between visiting writers and UMF students, particularly Bachelor of Fine Arts in creative writing majors. It will publish the Sandy River Review twice per year: once in the fall semester, and once in the spring semester, as outlined in Articles IX and X. It will provide a forum for student writers to read their works at meetings and through other methods. |
